We’ve had some additions to the herd over the years that took our program leaps ahead – adding Poppy Patch Blueberry Parfait was one of the biggest. Blue was already a finished champion when she joined our herd, she then was awarded her Superior Genetics designation, and then at 10 years old finally got her first milk star and scored a VEEE91 appraisal. Sadly, coming to us as an older goat, we didn’t get many does from her over the years. One, Tallulah, was born with a heart murmur so passed at 2 years old (although gave us my lovely Twyla Blue), and then a string of bucks before having Snowdrop and Bluebell at 10 yrs old. Snowdrop stood out from just a few months old as one of the nicest does born here. She kidded at 2 for the first time and appraised that year at VVVE88 as a FF. The appraiser said “that’s a goddamn good goat” and “her score would be even higher if she wasn’t a first freshener” – I just love this doe. Can you believe I forgot to get any pictures of her that day? Sigh…
Sadly, after her second kidding in 2025 she’s showing signs of the cancer that ultimately led to the end of Blue’s life (although at 14 years old). I kept a doeling from her this year but I am undecided about whether she will be bred again. Time will tell.
